Summary:
Provides financial aid services and coordinates access to financial resources to all current and prospective students.  Advises applicants, students, parents and/ or guardians regarding the financial aid process
 
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following:
Works with the Admissions Department and provides counseling on all aspects of financial aid to prospective students for admission.  Establishes a professional environment that facilitates the appropriate sharing of confidential financial information and supports the admissions process
Collects proper documentation and assists in the completion and submission of an accurate and
Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) via the web on behalf of the applicant.
 
  • Responsible for following up with the corporate packager to collect all documents required to complete financial aid packaging
  • Makes sure each student file is being worked appropriately and adhering to the 30 day rule that is given to each new student to get any missing financial aid paperwork turned in.
  • Responsible for making sure each student file is packaged and all documents have been collected before it is given to the Director of Financial Aid (DOFA) to request funds.
  • Helps aid student in the Entrance Loan Counseling and Master Promissory Note process.
  • Coordinates resolution of financial aid problems with students.
  • Monitors day-to-day financial aid job functions and package completeness of all files.

Education and/or Experience
A Bachelor’s degree is required; however, this educational requirement may be met through prior work experience in business, and or financial aid; proficiency in computer business applications and keyboarding required.
 
Certificates, License, Registrations:
None required for this job, but a FAO cannot be in default on any student loans while employed.
