Job Title: Certified Nurse Aide (C.N.A.) Primary Instructor
Status: Exempt – Full Time
A Train-The-Trainer certified Registered Nurse with the State of Michigan who has experience teaching adults or supervising nurse aides. Provides support to the C.N.A. Program Coordinator as needed.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following:
The Primary Instructor will teach and demonstrate all CNA skills in the classroom, lab and clinical setting as required by the State of Michigan.
The Primary Instructor is responsible for maintaining student grades and notes on a daily basis.
May delegate classroom, laboratory, and/or clinical teaching responsibilities to a Delegated Instructor, either another Registered Nurse or a Licensed Practical Nurse, within the legal scope of practice and assessed capabilities of those individuals.
Assist in training Delegate and Alternate Primary Instructors.
Hold orientation for CNA students entering the Program every three weeks.
Enforces a professional work environment, dress code policy and classroom rules.
Responsible for cleaning classroom after each class. Assists with tracking monthly supply inventory.
Creates a learning environment where students are valued and encouraged to learn. Comments to the students are phrased in a positive, constructive manner, highlighting both strengths and areas of improvement needed.
Provide four hour notice during absences of classes, lab, clinical and mandatory in-services.
Participate in faculty staff meetings and mandatory in-services/meetings.
Maintain contacts with industry employers to stay current on training needs and industry developments. Provides students with an understanding of how they will use the course material in a work environment.
Keep student records updated with C.N.A. certification results and for school accreditation.
Perform other duties as assigned.

Education and/or Experience:
Minimum of two years of nursing experience, at least one year of which must be in the provision of long term care facility services.
Must have completed a course in teaching adults or have experience in teaching adults or supervising nurse aides.
Train-the-Trainer is not required but must have two years nursing experience with at least one year of long-term care experience.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:
Registered Nurse in the State of Michigan.
Healthcare Provider BLS/CPR Certification from American Heart Association.
CNA Train-The-Trainer Certification with the State of Michigan
