Job Title:              Career Services Externship Coordinator
Reports To:                Director of Career services
FSLA Status:        Non-Exempt



Provide externship placement services to facilitate student employment in training related careers.    Ensures that students obtain externship experience that is consistent with their newly acquired skills and abilities.  Initiates, develops and maintains relationships with the business community.  Coordinates successful implementation and completion of externships at various facilities which match our prescribed curricula.  Determine effectiveness and overall success of externship experience as determined by scheduled on-site visits and student and on-site supervisor follow-up.  
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following
Coordinate required externship placement for students whose programs contain externships.
Develop externship sites for students.
Maintain accurate and timely externship documentation.
Attend career fairs, workshops, networking opportunities, local agency open houses, and community events to gain referrals and externship/employment contacts.
Document all externship activity in Diamond D under the Career Services area. 
Work in collaboration with academics to monitor, counsel and/or administer corrective action on students placed in the field when warranted.
Work in collaboration with Career Service Coordinators ensuring student’s smooth transition from externship placement to active job seeker.
Actively participate in Externship Preview
Performs other tasks as assigned.

Education and/or Experience:
Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree required; position also requires previous Job Placement, Marketing and/or Job Development experience.  Documented related work experience may take the place of the education requirement.
